Welcome to the Web Site of the Baltimore Watercolor Society. We hope you find our site useful and informative. And above all, we hope to see you in the Baltimore Watercolor Society!
In 1885, a small group of women founded the Baltimore Water Color Club "to encourage cultural interests in the development of Professional quality, original works of art, executed in aqueous media." Its history is intertwined with the venerable institutions of Baltimore--the Baltimore Museum of Art, the Maryland Institute, the Peabody Art Gallery and the Charcoal Club.
Today, over 450 members belong to this vibrant and diverse group of artists known as the Baltimore Watercolor Society, Inc. Each year they host the well-known Mid-Atlantic Regional Exhibition where over $5000 in awards are given to the winning entries. A juror of national reputation selects the paintings and conducts a workshop in conjunction with the exhibit.
