The Baltimore Watercolor Society is excited to feature internationally respected watercolor artist Alicia Farris for an evening program on Thursday, June 22nd 2023 at the Hawthorn Center in Columbia, MD.

FACES and FIGURES with Alicia Farris

Alicia Farris will share her studies of the human face and figure in this Demo. Using Alicia’s characteristic loose and colorful style, you will learn techniques to portray not just a likeness, more importantly, the personality and emotion of the human face or a subject.  Students will benefit from the demo.


Date: June 22nd, 2023 (Thursday), from 7:00 – 9:00 pm  (building opens at 6:30 m)

  • Price: $30 for all BWS members and $35 for guests and public; no refunds (except in the case of the event being cancelled for weather or other reason.)
  • Please pay online if possible with your Credit Cards. Otherwise, checks should be made out to Baltimore Watercolor Society and mailed to Sabine Yeager at the address below. Please enter the name of the program on your check.

  • Participants will be limited to 50 people. 
  • The program will take place at The Hawthorn Center in Hickory Ridge, Columbia, MD.  6175 Sunny Spring, Columbia, MD  21044.

BIO 

ALICIA FARRIS, Painter of Life, Workshop Instructor

Alicia Farris adores sharing her passion for watercolor as she sees a sort of magic in the medium. She helps inspire her students to use color and light to paint a story from their hearts, not merely what their eyes see.    

Alicia is an award-winning artist and instructor whose work has been included and recognized in numerous National and  International exhibits.

She recently received Honorable Mention in the American Artists Professional League 91stAnnual Grand National Exhibit at the Salmagundi Club in New York City.    

Her work was also chosen one of 170 works of 1600 entries worldwide for inclusion in the 2021 Women in Watercolor International Competition, was included in the International Exhibition of Watercolor West, Western Federation of Watercolor Societies, Mark Arts National Exhibition and Southern Watercolor Society exhibits in 2022.

Alicia has been published in Missouri Life, Signature, and Watercolor Artist Magazines. Alicia won first place in the reader’s competition and was featured with an interview in The Art of Watercolour International magazine published in France and distributed to 36 countries.    

She is signature member of multiple watercolor societies, including National Watercolor Society, Watercolor Honor Society, Western Federation of Watercolor Societies, Southern, Southwestern, Missouri and St. Louis Watercolor Societies. 

Alicia was extremely honored to have been commissioned by Touché Design Co. to create 9 large acrylic works for the Museum of the Bible in Washington D.C.
