 BWS Member Luncheon and Rare en Plein Air Opportunity at Gentle Giants Draft Horse Rescue 

Tuesday, September 16th, 10:00 am to 3:00 pm

Lunch available in the Healing Room in the Healing Barn at 12:00 noon.

Bring your watercolors, your sketch pads, and your photography skills to

Lisa Kokes, who also volunteers at Gentle Giants, will give a quick lesson on how to draw these wonderful horses.

The Healing Barn, central to many beautiful views and Draft horses (you will make a friend of one or two!), is the location for the

 luncheon. It has an air-conditioned space blocked off from the animals. You'll see horses while outside painting.  

Catered Luncheon begins is at 12 noon. Build your own salads and burritos, including gluten-free and vegetarian options, plus canned beverages, water, and cookies, for $30 inclusive.

Limit to 45 members, so please sign up soon, before others get there before you. 

Member Registration opens July 20 and ends September 8th or when full, whichever comes first.

at Gentle Giants Draft Horse Rescue 




Gentle Giants Draft Horse Rescue is a 501c(3) Equine Welfare Organization committed to saving draft and draft cross horses from slaughter, abuse, and neglect.

Bring your easel and your own supplies -- plein air painting is encouraged!

Feel free to just sketch if you prefer. You might want to take photographs of the views to inspire future paintings.

Stay all day (10:00 am - 3:00 pm) or just join us for lunch. Lunch will be served at 12:00 pm. 

Time:

  • Check-in at 10:00 am
  • Lunch, served at 12:00 pm
  • Paint out ends at 2:45 pm
  • We must vacate the premises by 3:00 pm

Cost: $30: Members 

Registration and all payments must be received by September 8th.

If a Member, Be sure to login before registering.

If you don't login the system will not know you are a member so you will not be able to register during the members only registration time and the computer will not give you the members only  price.

All registrations have to be paid within 5 days of registering. No exceptions please.

Cancellation policy: 

  • Cancellations between July 19th and August 26th receive a 75% refund.
  • Cancellations between August 27th through September 9th will receive a 50% refund.
  • No refunds after September 9th


Event Protocol: 

  • Per Howard County Law:  Smoking is prohibited in all Buildings, Event Tents, Porches, and Balconies and within 25 feet of all historic structures and building entrances. 
  • No alcohol can be brought onto or consumed on the property of Gentle Giants Draft Horse Rescue.  
  • Food should only be eaten inside the Healing Room to avoid inappropriate food getting to the animals. 
  • Follow BWS Standards of Behavior
